Pandemic and Small Businesses

The Dialogue will explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the private sector, with particular focus on the unique challenges faced by micro, small and medium enterprises in the region.  With lockdowns and curfews, the disruption to business activity in the region has been far-reaching but has also led to some transformative opportunities.

The business community has displayed resilience in being agile and adapting to the current state of “business unusual”.  There has been a migration to ecommerce and an explosion in the use of digital tools and new business models.  While the care and relief packages provided by governments to support the business community have been welcomed, more is needed from both the private and public sectors to address longstanding deficiencies in the business environment.

The Dialogue will delve into the strategies and reforms required to reposition our private sector for a faster recovery from the fallout of the pandemic and to enhance the sector’s resilience.

Join Governor of the ECCB, Timothy N.J.  Antoine as he moderates a live and interactive Dialogue on the challenges and opportunities for small businesses in the region.  Governor Antoine will be joined by a distinguished panel comprising: Executive Director, Compete Caribbean, Dr Sylvia Dohnert; Managing Director of the Belmont Estate in Grenada, Ms Shadel Nyack Compton; and CEO and Co-Owner of mCAT Innovations, Antigua and Barbuda, Mr Ashton Fearon.

Be part of the conversation as we take collective action to transform our region, now.

We encourage you to vote during the polling segment of the Dialogue as your input is important to us.
