GRD 2022 Climate Resilience Data Challenge - Eastern Caribbean Central Bank

Data for the Future

University students and private sector practitioners working in the field of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) are invited to participate in the Climate Resilience Data Challenge, a component of the 6th Growth and Resilience Dialogue organised by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) in collaboration with the OECS Commission, The World Bank, and University of the West Indies.

Participants will channel their proposed AI digital solutions to overcoming identified data challenges into specific prototypes and accompanying project summary.

Scope of work will include:

Developing new or improving existing data collection applications.
Designing technology platform solutions that enable the collection/ generation, analysis and curation of data.
Create collaboration and participation frameworks to enable problem solution success.

Who should apply?

Participants (worldwide) from colleges and universities as well as the private sector will be challenged to focus on the development of potential technology solutions, drawing on capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science and data analytics, as well as relevant data governance and policy frameworks regarding data portability, data privacy and data security.

Important Challenge Details

The GRD Climate Resilience Data Challenge will be launched on 25 January 2022 and four (4) finalists shortlisted (following assessment of project summary submissions) at the end of March 2022. All shortlisted finalists will be invited to present at the GRD 2022, 6 - 7 April 2022 in a competitive format with the individual/team associated with the winning selection awarded US$10,000 along with the possibility of an invitation to the winning solution team to explore ways to collaborate in validating, implementing or scaling the project’s reach with an expert in the respective field. Judges for The Challenge will be sought from regional and international universities, as well as other public and private sector organisations.

Submission Guidelines

Participants can enter the challenge as an individual or as a team
Participants can make multiple submissions before the challenge closes
The platform for submission would be made available one week before the submission deadline.
Submissions must include a write up indicating an explanation of methodologies and algorithms used, along with any code and external data sets leveraged, assumptions made and any insights identified as well as a video presentation (not to exceed 4 minutes) of the work.
Evaluation criteria for the final will be shared once the finalists are announced.
