
Tax Reform And Administration Commission To Meet In Grenada
Basseterre, St Kitts, August 19, 2002 The Tax Reform and Administration Commission, which is mandated to examine the revenue system in the member countries of the Currency Union and to recommend new approaches to taxation and its administration, is scheduled to meet in Grenada on 26 and 27 August 2002. The Commission will discuss the role of government in the economy; mechanisms for financing governments and the principles of taxation to guide income taxes on property and services. While in Grenada the Commission will also hold consultations with the Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of the private and public sectors, and the Leader of the Opposition. The discussions will focus on issues relating to the growth prospects for the economies of the Currency Union, and the appropriate revenue system to support the economy.
