Regional Government Securities Market To Come On Stream
Basseterre, November 05, 2001 Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir K Dwight Venner said that the Regional Government Securities Market (RGSM) is scheduled to come on stream early next year. This will facilitate the regional trading of treasury bills and bonds of the member Governments of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. In his address to the Monetary Council of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank at its last meeting in St Lucia, the Governor noted that the introduction of this facility would represent a further development in the money and capital markets programme. The RGSM would complement the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market, launched in October, to facilitate the trading of shares of public companies across the ECCU.
