ECCU School Children Get Lessons In Financial Management

Basseterre, February 02, 2004 Money$marts is the name of a new initiative geared at ensuring that school children are exposed to the practice of financial management, and set on the path to financial literacy from an early age. Throughout the month of February, the ECCB will be collaborating with other financial institutions including commercial banks, credit unions and development banks to engage students in discussions on a range of financial topics, including savings, investing and central banking. The participating financial institutions have pledged to visit a minimum of two schools, where they will facilitate interactive sessions with selected classes, as identified by the schools. Money$marts is one of the initiatives forming part of the financial and economic literacy campaign being coordinated by the ECCB in the eight member countries.
