ECCB Hosts Debt Management Workshop
Basseterre, January 28, 2002 Debt Management and Strategies is the focus of a workshop at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank from January 28 to February 5, 2002. The workshop, which is being sponsored by the ECCB and the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Center (CARTAC), is being attended by representatives of local debt coordinating committees and debt managers from the ECCU member states. The objective of the programme is to provide participants with a sound understanding of sovereign debt management issues and to enhance their practical skills in public debt management. Areas to be covered include the development of a national debt strategy, analysis of national debt data and public expenditure management. The Regional Debt Management Workshop is one of the preparatory steps for the start of the Regional Government Securities Market, scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of 2002.
