ECCB Governor Awarded UWI Honorary Degree

Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir K Dwight Venner is the recipient of an honorary degree, the Doctor of Laws from the University of the West Indies. He received the award during the first of two graduation ceremonies of the Cave Hill Campus, held in the gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers sports complex in Barbados on October 24 and 25, 2003. In commenting on the award to the Governor, his Deputy Mr Errol Allen stated: “This is a thoroughly deserving honor for someone who has made such an outstanding contribution to the development of one of the region’s premier institutions.” Honorary degrees were also conferred on four other distinguished Caribbean nationals during the two ceremonies. Educator Professor Richard Allsopp and actor Cynthia Wilson received the Honorary Doctor of Letters, while business magnate Sir Charles Williams, and renowned cricketer Sir Everton Weekes received the Honorary Doctor of Laws.
