ECCB Encourages Data Scientists, University Students and Faculty to Participate in Climate Resilience Data Challenge

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is making a final call for data scientists and university students and faculty worldwide to register for the Growth and Resilience Dialogue 2022 Climate Resilience Data Challenge, on or before 10 February.

Dr Curtis B. Charles, Chairman of the Data Challenge Committee and Director of Academic Affairs, Interim Head, School of Science, Computing and Artificial Intelligence, The University of the West Indies, Five Islands Campus, echoed this call during a recent interview on ECCB Connects.  He said, “the target group is global citizens who are engaged in data science research, machine learning as well as climate change research.” He encouraged university students and faculty involved in data science as well as corporate technology and non-profit organisations involved in climate change research to participate and help to solve the climate change problems which confront the region.

Participants have the option to register individually or as part of a team. Shortlisted finalists will present their prototypes on 7 April, for a chance to win the Grand Prize of US$10,000. Other consolation cash prizes will also be awarded.

The 6th Growth and Resilience Dialogue is being held under the theme: “Climate Resilience: Securing The Future of Small Island Developing States.
