
EC Accountants to Form Regional Body
Basseterre, St Kitts 09 June 2004 Members of the accounting profession from Eastern Caribbean member Countries will on 17 June 2004 launch the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Eastern Caribbean, (ICAEC) at the Royal St Lucian Hotel in St Lucia. The formation of the new institute is intended to ensure that professional accounting standards in the Eastern Caribbean are in keeping with international standards, and to instil investor confidence in the level and quality of accounting information emanating from the region. The launch will precede the 22nd Annual Caribbean Conference of Chartered Accountants being hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of St Lucia from June 17-19. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Kenny Anthony is slated to deliver a welcome address and Sir K Dwight Venner, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank will deliver the feature address.
