Donor Agencies Meet In St Kitts

Basseterre, November 16, 2001 Officials of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) met Thursday, November 15, with representatives of the World Bank and other donor agencies at the ECCB Auditorium in St Kitts, in on-going discussions relating to aid co-ordination in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. Among the matters discussed was the impact of the September 11 events on member countries, and the strategies and policies being adopted by the OECS member countries to deal with the economic downturn. Participants emphasised the need for the effective and efficient delivery of aid in order to achieve sustainable development in member countries. The meeting was preceded, on Wednesday, by a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Caribbean Group for Co-operation in Economic Development (CGCED), held in preparation for the biennial CGCED meeting scheduled for June 2002.
